My target 220 mi
Please support my Ambitious challenge!
On Sunday 28th June, I will once again take on the challenge to ride the 220 miles from Manchester to London in one day.
Having done it before doesn’t mean it’s going to be any easier, instead I already know the pain I will be in 😅
So why on earth am I doing this again?!
The reason is as simple as why this challenge was founded in the first place - to raise funds for the amazing charity Ambitious About Autism and generally raise awareness about autism and the challenges autistic young people and their families face every day.
For me, the pain only lasts the 18-20 hours it will take me to cycle to London. I will then get to rest and recover, and a week later it’s almost like it never happened. It is nothing compared to the darkest day for someone growing up autistic and what their family go through with them. For them, they can’t stop after a day to recover, they can only get help to make their lives more bearable.
For a non-neurodiverse brain it’s hard enough growing up, going through school and applying for a job. So imagine what it’s like when your brain doesn’t work the way society expects it, when nothing makes sense in school, when your CV doesn’t follow what recruiters or HR departments expects and the interview doesn’t follow the norm. Ambitious About Autism are there to teach, support, to open doors through internships and run nationwide campaigns for awareness.
Please, if you can, help me make this ride worth the while for those that don’t have the same opportunities you and I have. As they say, every penny helps, so whatever you can spare, nothing is too little.
